ECHAURI MARTÍNEZ, Eustaquio. Azcona, Navarra 20.9.1873 — Madrid 8.1.1953. Spanish Classical Philologist and Philosopher. Studied at seminary of Pamplona, but did not enter church service. Instead, worked as journalist and studied Greek and Latin in Rome and Madrid (lic. 1916). From 1920 Professor of Latin language and literature at Barcelona University. After a brief time in Sevilla from 1940 Professor of Greek and Sanskrit at Madrid. Apparently also interested in Indo-European linguistics and mythology.

Publications: Author of much used Latin and Greek grammars and dictionaries.
