BAIN, Francis William. 29.4.1863 — 24.2.1940. U.S. author who lived long time in India and presented his own writings as translations of Indian texts. For Indology they have of course no value. An impostor like he has no right to be included here. But as I remember, how I wondered as a student about the Finnish translation of the Digit of the moon (I stopped reading it after a few pages and more or less guessed the truth), I like to save others the trouble.
