BADLEY, Brenton Hamline. Monmouth, Indiana 27.4.1849 — Lucknow 20.11.1891. U.S. Missionary in India. Son of Arthur B. and Nancy Jane Houser. Educated at Simpson College and Garrett Biblical Institute. Came to India as Methodist missionary in 1872 and worked there until his death. In 1876 one of the founders and then secretary of Indian Sunday School Union. Married Margaret Mary Ann Scott, father of Brenton Thoburn Badley (1876–1949), also a missionary in India and author of several books on mission, and five other sons and one daughter.
