JOYES, William Boardman Walter. Madras 9.8.1828 — Ootacamund 11.7.1878. British Teacher in India. Son of Walter Patrick Joyes and Mary Ann Boardman, a family residing in Madras from the grandfather’s (Major Patrick Joyes) time. Professor of Vernacular Languages at Presidency College, Madras, until death. Married 1857 Clarissa Hall.
