EDWARDS, James Fairbrother. Bolton, Lancastershire 25.3.1875 — Auburndale, Polk County, Florida 5.12.1951. Rev. British Missionary and Indologist, especially a Marathi Scholar. Son of Isaac and Sarah E. Educated at Wesleyan Methodist Theological College in Handsworth, Birmingham, then 8 years in charge of churches in England. Arrived in India in 1908, was the Methodist Superintendent in Bombay until 1914, then on loan to American Marathi Mission. From 1930 Principal of the United Theological College in Pune (still in 1941). Married to Mary Louise Wheeler.
