ANDERSON, Philip. 25.5.1816 — Malabar Hill, Bombay 13.12.1857. Rev. British Priest in India interested in Sanskrit and History. Son of Captain Thomas A. of the E.I.C., educated at St. Paul’s School in London. Studies at Cambridge (Corpus Christi College, B.A. 1838, M.A. 1849), ordained priest 1840. In 1849 to India, where he served as the chaplain of Colaba (in Bombay) until his early death. Vice-President of the R.A.S Bombay Branch. Married 1841 with Dorothy (Dora) Potts, one son.

Publications: Published an inscription in JBRAS 3:2, 1851, 213-223; and “Some Account of the Bhatti Kávya”, ibid. 20-26.
