HORTON-SMITH, Lionel Graham Horton. 12.7.1871 — London 9.3.1953. British Lawyer interested in Linguistics. Son of Richard Horton H.-S. and Marilla Baily. Educated in Marlborough, studies of classics and law at St.John’s College, Cambridge (B.A. 1893, M.A. 1897). Called to bar 1897 by Lincoln’s Inn. Worked as barrister in London. Married 1909 Nora Blanche Dorrington (1883–1973), at least one son.

Publications: Articles on IE in AJPh 1894-98 (especially on gerund and gerundive formations); also wrote on classics.
