KIPLING, John Lockwood. Pickering, Yorkshire 6.7.1837 — Tisbury, Wiltshire 26.1.1911. British Art Teacher, Illustrator and Museum Curator in India. Son of Rev. Joseph K. and Frances Lockwood, educated at Wesleyan Woodhouse Grove school. From 1865 Professor of Architectural Sculpture, then Principal at Jeejeebhoy School of Art in Bombay. From 1875 Principal of Mayo School of Arts in Lahore and Curatoe of Lahore Museum. Retired and returned to the U.K. in 1893. C.I.E. 1887. Married 1865 Alice MacDonald, two sons (the famous author and poet Rudyard Kipling, 1865–1936) and one daughter.
