THOMPSON, Reginald Campbell. Kensington (London) 21.5.1876 — London 23.5.1941. British Archaeologist and Assyriologist. Son of Reginald Edward Th. and Anne Isabella De Morgan, educated in London. Studies at Cambridge (Caius College). From 1904 in British Museum as Assistant to —> L. W. King, accompanied him to Behistun. After WW I Fellow of Merton College, Oxford. In 1938-41 Reader of Assyriology at Oxford. Conducted many excavations in Mesopotamia. Married 1911 Barbara Brodrick, two sons and one daughter.
