B.A. 1948 University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, in Oriental Studies. Ph.D. 1958 University of Washington in Seattle. Taught at Beloit College (Wisc.) and University of Wisconsin in Madison. Married 1943 —> Robert James Miller (1923–1994), at least two sons and one daughter. Fieldwork with him among Tibetan refugees in West Bengal. Also fieldwork on Makah Indians.
