WALDE, Alois. Innsbruck 30.11.1869 — Innsbruck (Prabook: Königsberg) 3.10.1924. Austrian IE and Classical Scholar. Son of Ludwig Walde and Anna Filz, educated in Innsbruck. In 1888-92 studies of Classics and IE at Innsbruck, Ph.D. there 1894 (under Stolz). PD 1895 Innsbruck, also worked in university library, then eo. Professor 1904-09. In 1909-12 Professor of Comparative Linguistics at Giessen, from 1912 had the same chair at Innsbruck and 1922-24 at Königsberg. In 1924 accepted position at Breslau, but died before going there (but Ö.B.L. claims he taught one term there). Married 1901 Maria (Mia) Camphausen.
