SEDGWICK, Leonard John (Jack). Bristol ?.4.1883 — Bombay 27.6.1925. British Civil Servant in India, interested in Botany and Religion. Son of Roger Buttery Sedgwick and Anna Diana Acworth, father and several elder relatives had worked in India. Educated in Uppingham, studies at Cambridge (Pembroke College, B.A.). Arrived in India in 1906. Worked in Maharashtra. Died of paratyphoid. Married 1911 Agnes Winifred Guidera, four children. Described several new species of Indian plants, his collections are kept in St.Xavier’s College in Mumbai.
