EDWARDS, Edward. Llangedwyn, Montgomeryshire, Powys 5.5.1870 — Llandinam, Montgomeryshire  28.4.1944. British (Welsh) Librarian and Iranian Scholar. Educated at Oswestry High School and Bala Theological College. Studies at University College of Wales in Aberystwyth (under H. Ethé) and 1900-03 Christ’s College, Cambridge. B.A. Wales and Cambridge. From 1904 Assistant in Department of Oriental Printed Books and Manuscripts, British Museum, retired 1935. Member of Board of Archaeology and Board of Oriental Studies and Examiner in Persian, University of London. Married Ellen Jane Higgs, father of Egyptologist Iorwerth Edwards.

Publications: A catalogue of the Persian printed books in the British Museum. 8 p. 936 col. L. 1922; a few other works and articles.
