MACKENZIE, Hector

MACKENZIE, Hector. 1??? — 1???. Captain. The India Office and Burma List for 1872 mentions a Major H. Mackenzie in Central Provinces.

One H. Mackenzie was the son of the elder H. Mackenzie (1758–1826), 4th Bart. of Gairloch, and Christian Henderson, and served in Indian army, finally as Colonel (Wikipedia on the clan Mackenzie of Gairloch). thepeerage.com knows that he married Mary Lydia Fraser, but had no children. geni.com knows that he was born in Urquhart and Logie Wester, County Ross and Cromarty, Scotland before 5.4.1801, which makes him probably too old for our H.M. But the last source also claims that he actually has issue, i.al. the younger H.M. born 19.11.1835 (but nothing further).

Sources: It was hard task to find the first name to the man usually referred to just as Captain Mackenzie or H. Mackenzie, but even now Hector seems to be too common first name in the Mackenzie clan.
