EMELEN, Arthur Marie Joseph van. Leuven 2.3.1874 — Ranchi 17.8.1936. S.J. Father. Belgian Missionary in India. Son of Léon van E. and Catharina Sofia Casteleyn. Worked in Chota Nagpur and collaborated with —> J. B. Hoffmann. He was also interested in botany and developed plant nomenclature in Hindi and Mundari. An elusive figure about whom few details are found.
