NIGGEMEIER, Hermann. Münsterland 1908 — 2005. German Anthropologist. From 1926 studies of geography and anthropology at Köln. Ph.D. 1932 Köln. Fieldwork in India and Moluccas. After brief stay with Koppers in Vienna from 1934 Assistant, then Oberassistent in Frobenius-Institut in Frankfurt a/M. In 1940-45 in army, then war prisoner, released 1947. Participated in Institutes’s expeditions, in 1937 to Moluccas, in 1955-56 to India. From 1956 Director of Völkerkundemuseum, retired 1972.
