ROGERS, Thomas

ROGERS, Henry Thomas. ?.1.1830 — St.Leonards-on-sea, Sussex ?.11.1898. British Colonial Officer in Burma. In 1848-49 at Addiscombe, then joined Madras Engineers. Served in the second Burma war, Lieutenant 1854. Finally Principal of Madras Civil Engineering College at Fort St. George. Returned to the U.K. in 1880 and retired as Major-General in 1886. Collaborated with Max Müller

Publications: Buddhaghosa’s parables translated from Burmese, with an introd. by Max Müller. 172+206 p. L. 1870.

First Lessons in Telugu comprising Twenty-Five Short Stories in both the Colloquial and the Grammatical Styles, with copious notes and translation. 83 p. Madras 1880.
