NEVE, Ernest Frederic. Brighton 3.2.1861 — Srinagar 8.2.1946. British Surgeon in India. The youngest child of David Neve, a silk mercer, and Mary Jane Wibmer. After Brighton Grammar School two years in Germany, then from 1879 studied at Edinburgh, from 1882 concentrated on medicine. M.D. 1886 and immediately left for Kashmir, where he collaborated with his brother, Dr. Arthur Neve (1858–1919) in Kashmir Medical Mission. In 1888 they founded the Kashmir Mission Hospital and 1891 the Kashmir State Leper Hospital. In WW II served 1914-18 as Captain in Indian Defense Force Medical Corps. Also a mountaineer. Married 1915 Jean Sophia Browne, no children.
