BUCKLAND, Charles Edward. Chittagong 19.9.1847 — Kensington, London 1.10.1941. British Civil Servant in India. Son of of Charles Thomas Buckland (1824–1894) of I.C.S. and Mary Ann Letitia Ricketts. Educated at Laleham and Eton College, studies rom 1866 at Balliol College, Oxford (B.A. 1866). Joined I.C.S. in 1870. Called to the bar from Inner Temple 1885. Retired 1904. C.I.E. 1895. Married 1873 Laura Anne Lindsey (d. 1918), and 1919 Frances Evelyne Palmer, four sons and three daughters with the first.
