DUNCAN, Marion Herbert

DUNCAN, Marion Herbert. Celina, co. Mercer, Ohio 17.1.1896 — Boonsboro, co. Washington, Maryland ?.1.1977. U.S. Missionary in Khams (Eastern Tibet). Son of John Stephen Duncan (1872–1912) and Sarah Jane Russell (1874–1904), graduated from Hiram College. In 1921-35 served as missionary of the Disciples of Christ in Batang (‘Ba‘-thams) in Khams (Lopez) or 1921-32 of United Christian Missionary Society and then 1934-36 member of the second Brooke Dolan expedition to eastern Tibet (Shavit). Back in the U.S.A. resided in Alexandria, Va. as teacher of Tibetan and translator. In 1947-51 worked in Japan. Married Kathryn Louise Habecker (1892–1977), three sons.
