FLORSCHÜTZ, Josip

FLORSCHÜTZ, Josip (Josef). Agram (Zagreb) 8.3.1864 — Ibid. 22.9.1916. Croatian (Austrian) Linguist. Son of Franjo and Katarina Fl. From 1882 studies of Slavic, German and IE at Vienna, Ph.D. 1885 there (on Slavic). From 1895 school-teacher in Zagreb. From 1908 ao. Professor for comparative IE linguistics, Sanskrit, Lithuanian, Gothic and Albanian at Zagreb University, from 1909 Professor ordin. Wrote mainly in Croatian, and not on Indology. He was also known as a componist. Married Zora, one daughter.

Publications: Diss. Die sprachliche Eigentümlichkeiten des Psalterium Sinaiticum ed. Geitler. Manuscript, Vienna 1885 (Slavic).
