FURNIKA, Vitalij Petrovič. Dovžanka near Ternopil, western Ukraina 14.10.1940 — 16.4.1993. Russian (Ukrainian) Indologist (Tamil Scholar). Son of a farmer. Studies in Leningrad (Rudin) and 1969-70 in Madras. Graduated 1970 from Leningrad. Kand. filol. nauk 1979. From 1975 editor of the Raduga.
