ROBINSON, Thomas

ROBINSON, Thomas. 1790 — Rochester 17.5.1873. Rev. British Clergyman in India. Son of Rev. Thomas R., educated at Rugby. Studied at Trinity College, Cambridge, B.A. 1813, M.A. 1816. Ordained priest 1816 and left for India as missionary. Worked at Senoot and Poona (Pune). Archdeacon of Madras 1826, Lord Almoner’s Professor of Arabic at Cambridge 1837-54, Master of the Temple 1845-69, Rector of Therfield 1853-60. From 1854 canon of Rochester Cathedral. D.D. 1844. Married 1816 Esther Eleanor (d. 1855), at least two sons.
