ORLICH, Leopold von. Stallupönen (now Nesterov in Kaliningrad oblast) 30.6.1804 — London 2.6.1860. German Officer, Traveller and Historian. Son of a Prussian officer, followed his father in this. In 1842 he went to India in order to participate in the new Afghan war (but arrived too late), returned 1843 after a visit to South India. In 1848 retired as Major and moved to England.
