STOCKS, Cheridah de Beauvoir (née Cheridah Annie Ernst). Mrs. Evercreech, Somerset 6.11.1887 — Northampton 1.5.1971. British Aeronaut and Anthropologist. Daughter of Henry Ernst, a magistrate, and Annie Waring. In 1909 married David de Beauvoir Stocks (d. 1918). In 1911 she was the second British woman to obtain aviation certificate. In 1913 seriously injured in an air crash and left aviation. Now studied anthropology at Oxford (B.Sc.). In 1925 living in Kalimpong conducting extensive fieldwork among Lepchas.
