BESKROVNYJ, Vasilij Matveevič. v Šejkovke, Harkovskaja obl. 24.5. (6.6.)1908 — 1978. Russian (Ukrainian?) Indologist, specialist in Hindi/Urdu. Studies in Leningrad: graduated 1930, Kand. filol. n. 1943. Naučnyj sotrudnik at Oriental Institute, Academy of Science, Leningrad from 1932, staršij n. sotr. 1943. In 1936-38 taught at Leningrad Oriental Institute and 1938-41 in Committee for Educating Cadres; in 1939-40 and 1945-56 at Leningrad University. In 1964 and from 1968 taught at Institute of Oriental languages in Moscow.
