KENNET, Charles Egbert. 8.2.1826 (ot 21.9.) — 28.11.1884. Rev. Anglo-Indian Priest. Son of Charles Kennet (1787–1851), a clerk in Madras Treasury Office, and Charlotte Temasfield (1803–1841), a Roman Catholic. After studies at Bishop’s College in Calcutta ordained deacon 1851, priest 1853. Worked as missionary in Mudalur and 1857-65 in Christianagram (dt. Tirunelveli). Then in Madras, from 1872 taught at Madras Theological College of the Society for the Propagation of the Gospel, from 1877 its Principal. D.D. 1880. Fellow of Madras University. Married 1851 Phoebe Rodgers (d. 1910 when 78), at least one son.
