MILLER, Boris Vsevolodovič

MILLER, Boris Vsevolodovič. Moscow 31.10.(12.11.)1877 — Moscow 6.8.1956. Russian Scholar of Iranian History. Son of —> Vsevolod F. Miller and Evgenija Viktorovna Nasonova. After gymnasium in Moscow studied from 1895 and graduated 1899 from Juridical Faculty, Moscow, and 1903 from Lazarevskij Institut. In 1903-17 in diplomatic service in Iran, Turkey and Morocco. In 1917-19 worked in Caucasian Dept. of Russian Museum in Petrograd, in 1919-21 in Kazan Museum. In 1921-41 taught at Oriental Institute and Military Academy in Moscow and in 1943-53 at Philological Faculty of Moscow University. In 1922-28 naučnyj sotrudnik in Muzej narodovedenija, Caucasian and Central Asian Department, in 1924-56 at Linguistic Inst. of Soviet Academy. Dr. filol. nauk 1939, Professor 1935. In the 1920s wrote about comparative Iranian according to Marrian doctrines.
