ZAFIROPULO, Ghiorghio. Marseille 7.6.1909 — Pâlis (Aube) 18.8.1993. Greek Sculptor in France. Born of Greek parents in France, son of Polybe Zafiropulo (1868–1951) and Sophia Economo von San Serff (1869–1939), grew up in Marseille. In the 1930s living in Paris and Vienna, now began his artistic career. During WW II in Marseille. In 1947-55 farmer in Transvaal. Married 1937 Isabella Schönburg-Hartenstein (of Austria, 1901–1987), children.
After WW II Zafiropulo became interested in anthroposophy and soon also in Buddhism. He learned Sanskrit from books and prepared many years his major work, published little before his death in 1993.
