DOBBIE, Robert Shedden. 1821 — Bangalore 2.5.1868. British Colonial Officer in India. Son of navy officer William Hugh D. (1771–1830) and Agatha Shedden Goodrich. Captain in Madras Army in 1848, marrying Isabella Monteith, and still 1856, when he married Mary Elizabeth Groves. One daughter with the first wife. His only work is the pocket dictionary (in 12°).
