DRIBERG, John Gordon. Batticaloa, Sri Lanka 26.3.1816 — on sea 15.11.1854. Rev. Missionary of the Society for the Propagation of the Gospel. Son of Charles van Driberg (1787–1826, of Dutch backgroune) and Gertruida Johanna Elizabeth Mullertsz (1791–1826). Ordained Deacon 1835. In the early 1830s in Tallygunge as catechist, from 1835 in Barripûr near Calcutta, c. 1847-48 in Nurbudda District, then again in Barripur. Married 1852 Harriet Betts (d. 1859).
