FORREST, Robert Edward

FORREST, Robert Edward Treston. 1835 — West Bournemouth 1914. British Civil Servant in India. The eldest son of Captain George F. (1800–1859) of Indian army and Ann Edwards, brother of —> G.W.F. Educated in England. Served 22 years in the Irrigation Branch of the Indian Public Works Department. Married Mary Wild, one daughter.

Publications: “On Rock Inscriptions near Khalsi”, ProcASB 1865, 199-203.

Wrote several novels, e.g. Eight Days. A Tale of the Indian Mutiny. 1-2. L. 1891 and new editions; also used nom-de-plume Dudley Hardress Thomas.
