DUTOIT, Julius Franz Gustav. Darmstadt 13.3.1872 — München 17.6.1958. German Indologist (Pāli Scholar). Son of a teacher of modern languages. Catholic. Matriculated from the Gymnasium of Darmstadt in 1890. In 1890-93 studied classical philology at München, Giessen, and again München. Gymnasium teacher in Würzburg 1893-94, in Dillingen 1894-95, and from 1895 in Speier, later in Munich. Ph.D. 1898 Erlangen. Worked all his life as a Gymnasium teacher. Mainly remembered for his complete translation of the Jātaka commentary,
