MCPHERSON, Hugh. Paisley, Renfrewshire 3.5.1870 — Edinburgh 17.12.1960. Sir. British (Scottish) Civil Servant in India. Son of Duncan M. and Rebecca Lees. Joined I.C.S. around 1890. In Bengal, from 1912 in Bihar and Orissa. Acting Governor of Bihar and Orissa. Retired to Scotland in 1925. K.C.I.E. 1924, C.S.I. Conducted expeditions to the Himalaya. Married 1897 Gertrude Kelly, two daughters and one son.
