GELDER, Jeannette Maria van. Leiden 2.8.1894 — 15.8.1972 (when 78). Dutch Indologist. Daughter of Dr. Hendrik van G. and Cornelia Jeannette Maria van de Water. Studied Indology at Leiden (Uhlenbeck, Vogel and Speyer) and Utrecht. Ph.D. 1921 Utrecht under Caland. Then long time librarian at Kon. Akademie in Amsterdam. In retirement worked again on Indology at Utrecht. In addition to Vedic ritual, wrote on the BĀU and Jung’s theories.

Publications: Diss. Opbouw van het hoogaltar naar de overlevering der Mānavas. Mānavaśrautasūtracayana. 20+22 p. Leiden & Lp. 1921 (MŚS 6, 1).
