DAVIS, George W.

DAVIS, George Washington. Pittsburgh 7.12.1902 — 29.3.1960. U.S. Theologian. Son of Benjamin Ivor Davis and his wife Katherine Kaiser. Studies at University of Pittsburgh (B.A. 1925) and Rochester Theological Seminary (B.D. 1928, Th.M. 1929). Ordained Baprist priest 1928. Ph.D. 1932 Yale, on missiology. Until 1938 worked as priest. From 1938 until death Professor of Theology at Crozer Theological Seminary in Upland, PA (where Martin Luther King, Jr. was his student). Married 1930 Mildred Mae Jones, two sons.
