KROGMANN, Willy

KROGMANN, Willy. Wismar 13.9.1905 — Hamburg 20.3.1967. German Germanist also interested in IE Linguistics. Son of Heinrich Kr., a timber dealer, and Auguste Meyer. From 1924 studied Germanistics, etc. at Rostock and Leipzig. Ph.D. 1928 Rostock. In 1933-39 in Berlin working on lexicography. Member of NSDAP, in WW II served in the Netherlands. After war taught at Hamburg Univer­sity until death, mainly teaching Frisian philology, and worked of the great dictionary of Heligoland Frisian dialect.
