YARROW, Andrew H.

YARROW, Andrew Henry. Philadelphia 25.11.1919 — Miami 25.2.1999. U.S. Indologist. Son of Alfred Edward Yarrow (1894–1924). an industrialist, and Madeleine Jeanne  Jallais (1897–1974). Studied in Rennes, France, and at University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill. B.A. 1938 and M.A. 1939 University of North Carolina (French & Spanish). After WW II studies under Edgerton at Yale, Ph.D. 1950, also Instructor in Sanskrit at Yale. Then Fulbright scholar in India. From 1952 Assistant Professor of Indian Languages and Civilization at Columbia University. In the 1960s Professor at University of Miami. Married 1941 Alice Christine Ponder (1920–1998).
