MCCABE, Robert Blair. 1854? — Shillong ?.6.1897. British Civil Servant in North-East India. Educated at Victoria School, Jersey. “Sent out to India, 1876, served in Assam, in charge of the Naga Hills. A distinguished frontier officer, did much to civilize the Angami Nagas. In the difficulties with the Lushais showed great bravery and judgement, in Feb. 1897 released captives in their hands. Inspector-General of Police, Assam. Killed in the earthquake.”

Publications: wrote an outline grammar of the Angami Naga language.
