STEGMANN VON PRITZWALD, Kurt Friedrich Woldemar. Wenden/Livland (now Cēsis in Latvia) 12.6.1901 — Rottenburg/Neckar 21.12.1962. German (of Livonia) IE Linguist. Professor in Marburg. Son of agronomist Friedrich Percival St. von Pr. (1868–1938) and Alice Charlotte Neander. Educated in Riga (until 1918), Stettin and Meiningen. Participated as German voluntary in post-WW warfare in Baltia. In 1920-25 studies at Giessen, Jena and Munich. From 1925 Lektor of Russian at Jena. Ph.D. 1928 Jena under Debrunner. From 1929 schoolteacher. From 1933 PD at Kiel (hab.diss. on Lithuanian), taught as Lehrbeauftragte at Marburg from 1936 and at Rostock from 1938. From 1940 Docent at Marburg, from 1945 apl. Professor für allgemeine und vergleichende Sprachwissenschaft there, until his death. Member of NSDAP 1938 (supporter from 1932), during the war served in the organization of research in the occupied east, after war in internment. Resumed his teaching at Marburg in 1952. Married 1929 Christa Buchfink (b. 1903), one daughter and one son.
