WROTH, Warwick

WROTH, Warwick William. Clerkenwell near London 24.8.1858 — London 26.9.1911. British Numismatist. Son of Rev. Warwick Reed Wroth (d. 1867). After King’s School in Canterbury joined British Museum Dept. of coins and medals in 1878. Finally Senior Assistant Keeper of Coins and Medals in British Museum. Died after an operation caused by a brief illness.

Publications: “Otanes, and Phraates IV”, NC 3:20, 1900, 89-95; “On the Rearrangement of Parthian Coinage” Ibid. 181-202; also wrote much on Greek numismatics and articles on numismatists in D.N.B.
