STRAMIGLIONI, Giuliana. Rome 8.8.1914 — Rome 25.7.1988. Italian Japanologist. Student of Tucci at Rome, graduated 1936. Further studies of Japanese and Buddhist art in Kyoto, also worked as journalist. Back in Italy 1938 taught briefly at Naples, but soon returned to Japan. After war taught Italian at Tokyo University, remained in Japan until 1965. She had her own firm, Italofilm, importing Italian movies to Japan. In 1965-85 Professor of Japanese at La Sapienza in Rome.
