SAUNDERS, Arthur Leslie. London 7.3.1862 — 31.10.1935. British Civil Servant in India, interested in Indian Religions. Son of Arthur William S. Studies at Oxford (Balliol College), joined I.C.S. 1880. Served in Central Provinces and United Provinces in 1882-1917, then 1918-23 in Financial Department of India Office. Retired and probably lived in London, where he is buried. C.S.I. Married 1896 Ethel Lillian Hughes-Hallett.
