BOISACQ, Émile. Namur 26.11.1865 — Ixelles 2.6.1945. Belgian Linguist and Classical Scholar. Dr. philol. class. Bruxelles 1889, diss. on Dorian dialects 1891, further studies at Heidelberg (Osthoff) and Paris (Meillet). For a while school-teacher. From 1895 at Bruxelles University, Professor for General and IE Linguistics, Sanskrit, and Latin Philology. Retired in 1935. Students: R. Goossens.

Dictionnaire étymologique de la langue grecque. 1907–16; translated: Bacchylides, Herondas, Plautus, Terentius, Tibullus, Propertius, Juvenalis.
