PICKFORD, John. 18?? — 1???. British Indologist. Studies at Oxford under Monier Williams. M.A. In 1871 Professor of Sanskrit in Madras. Retired from the membership of R.A.S. in 1873. Same as JP, “a CMS missionary at Pannaivelei, to the south-east of Tinnevelly” in the 1860s? In the 1880s one Rev. JP was at the Newbourne Rectory, Woodbridge.
